Van Gogh Starry Over the Rhone
Vincent Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands, 1853 - 1890. He did not embark upon a career as an artist until 1880. Most of his best-known works were produced in the final two years of his life. His Starry Over the Rhone painting was done by Van Gogh in September of 1888 and features the Rhone River in the town of Arles, France. It was the second painting Van Gogh did of the night sky and the effects of light at night; the first being Cafe Terrace at Night and the later the iconic Starry Night which was done while he was in Saint-Rémy.
