A natural dye resulting in fuchsia to scarlet. Shift color warmer or cooler with pH of dyebath. Soak bugs in a few inches of water, then boil for 1 hr, and strain dye into dyepot. Repeat, boiling with fresh water 3-6x, adding to dyepot. Use soft water for best results. Included in this package is 1 oz of cochineal bugs to dye approximately 1 - 1-1/2 lbs of protein fiber*. Use a ratio of 4-6% dye to weight of fiber for medium saturation.
